Utah Automotive Jobs

The Automotive industry includes the sale, maintenance, and repair of new and used cars, trucks, buses and other motorized vehicles, along with the associated parts suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers. In addition, truck transportation; supplying materials and finished goods to the economy is part of this industry. A unifying characteristic of businesses in the automotive industry is that they employ highly skilled technicians with specialized skills to diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems for motorized vehicles of all types.

As the Utah economy revived in recent years, the growth in automotive employment has lagged overall employment increases in Utah. Twenty-eight of Utah's 29 counties have significant numbers of automotive related jobs. Dealerships of new and used cars and trucks, parts stores, along with repair/maintenance shops comprise 40 percent of the industry. Truck transportation (28 percent of automotive jobs) is largely responsible for delivering materials to industry and finished products. Many automotive jobs are high-tech and challenging as well as rewarding. Highly skilled technicians work in modern, clean, air-conditioned and safe environments.
